I know Steve Martin was talking about the new phone book in “The Jerk” . . . but I am that excited about the new Starboard models we just received.
Although our outside water is now frozen solid, we are still hosting monthly SUP sessions in the WEM pool.
In fact, I have surfed 5 hours in 2 sessions in the last 4 days. Â Not bad for living in the middle of Canada – in December.
Enough about me – on to the new boards.
We have just received the brand new Starboard Atlas.
This board will be THE board for lake and river touring around here.
It is 12’0″ x 33″ x 5″ – It has good length for glide – a nice width for stability and enough thickness (volume) for anyone.
The Starboard Atlas has 4 tie down spots on the nose of the board – perfect for lashing a dry bag or anything else to the board.
We received the board in the new Tuff Skin – Silver construction. Â It looks like a millions bucks – but costs nearly a million less.
Also in, is the Starboard Avanti in the Tuff Skin – Candy construction.
The Avanti was a mid season release this past summer and is a great board for anyone to paddle.
It is 11’2″ x 36″ x 4.7″ – so while it is not as long as most “flat water” boards – its increased width makes it ultra stable.
This is also the absolute best board to learn how to surf.
From West Edmonton Mall waves to the wake of any boat – the Starboard Avanti will catch them all.
Last but not least – we have received the very first Starboard SUP Slick in North America.
This board is the same shape as the Starboard Whopper – 10’0″ x 34″ – and is made in a “soft” construction.
By soft – I don’t mean spongey – I mean that it has a full EVA top / reinforced rails / a slick skin bottom / nose and tail bumpers / and a wood layer under the deck for rigidity. Â It is also “value priced” – not as cheap as some of the total garbage some big box stores will be carrying – but killer quality – at a lower price point.
The SUP slick will be the ultimate family board – nice and stable for beginners / tough and durable for “kid friendly” use / great for running white water rivers / and priced so you can get more than one – because SUP’ing alone is kind of like having one walkie talkie.
