Sunday, June 21 saw the running of the 3rd Annual Easy Rider – Battle at Telford Lake SUP Race.
The weather was the best we have had in the short history of this event – with just a little bit of wind – and sunny skies.
New this year was the inclusion of the Joker Lap – where each paddler was allowed to short cut the course one time during their race.
The Joker Lap strategy was used with success on a few occasions – allowing paddlers to either get into “clean” water – or make a pass on someone.
The Open class racers were the fist to hit the water – and completed 3 laps of the course.
Greg showed that age is only a number – taking 1st over all. Â Followed by my 2 sons in second and third!
Next up was the Kids / Youth class – with racers ranging from age 6 to 15. Â The under 10 class did one lap, while the 11 to 15 year olds did 2.
Big props to Kira who at age 8 – decided to do 2 laps! Â Watch out for her in the future!
Last to start were the Elite racers – who did 5 laps of the course.
Ryan jumped out to an early lead and held it until the finish. Â 2nd and 3rd was a battle between Genna and Delmer – with Genna pulling out a bit of distance on the last lap.
The event was capped off by our “semi famous” draw prizes – where everyone won something!
Thanks to all my staff / family and team for helping out at the event, and thanks to the competitors for coming out and having fun!
