The store ran a contest in conjunction with Nixon Watches last fall.
One lucky customer and one of our staff won a trip to Nixon’s head office in Encinitas, California to build their own custom watch.
We also tied the trip in with the Supercross event in San Diego.
It was a great trip of a lifetime.
Thanks to Nixon for making it all happen.
I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story.
Nixon’s head office – the building was originally an old lumber yard.
Upon arriving – we headed straight to the beach for some lunch – with a view.
We conveniently ran into Nixon co-founder Andy Laats at lunch.
We also met up with the other half of Nixon – co-founder Chad Dinenna for breakfast the next day.
Contest winner Marc (left) and shop Staff Griffin – getting their first look and the “parts” that they can make their watches from.
Once the face / case / winder / hands / band were chosen – the watch was assembled.
Another part of the customization was being able to have the case back customer laser engraved.
I was also able to make a watch – here is my case back.
All three finished watches.
The next day it was over to Coronado for a little beach time.
After the beach – we headed to the Supercross race – and ran into Steve Caballero (who is also big into MX).
Ryan – back in Edmonton – hooked us up with VIP access to the KTM / Troy Lee Designs pit area.
Chad Reed – had to put this one in for Marc!
The winners hanging out at Supercross.
First corner action!
All in all it was an amazing trip. Â Thanks to Nixon / Stance / Troy Lee Designs and our rep – Dirk – for an great time.
Once again proving that it pays to shop at Easy Rider.
